Cops need the public’s help in tracking down a knife-wielding assailant who recently slashed a man’s face on the streets of Jamaica.
According to police, at 1:28 a.m. on Sept. 8, a 31-year-old man was walking home on 89th Avenue near 144th Street when he was approached from behind by the unknown suspect.
Authorities said the perpetrator then proceeded to slash the victim with a knife, causing a laceration to the victim’s face, and fled the location.
Law enforcement sources said it’s unclear whether the victim was targeted at random.
EMS responded to the scene and took the victim to Jamaica Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Police released the following video of the suspect from surveillance footage at El Mezcal Bar and Grill, located at 139-31 Jamaica Ave., a couple of blocks from the crime scene.
Police described the assailant as a Hispanic man with a medium build, a beard and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a burgundy and white t-shirt, black pants and white and black Adidas sneakers.
