A Linden Hill man was killed while riding his bicycle in Bayside Thursday evening, according to the NYPD.

Hsien Lin, 54, of 35th Avenue, fell off his bike and struck his head while riding on a bike path along Little Neck Bay. Police from the 109th Precinct in Bayside responded to a 911 call just before 7:30 p.m. and found the cyclist lying on the Cross Island Parkway bike path near Totten Road with severe head trauma, according to the NYPD.

EMS responded to the scene and rushed Lin to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset where he was pronounced dead, police said.

It was not clear whether the victim was wearing a helmet and a preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that Lin was riding a GMC Denali road series bicycle northbound on the bike path when he failed to properly navigate the pathway just south of Totten Road when he fell to the pavement and struck his head on the roadway and sustained the fatal head trauma.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the NYPD.
