Police from the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows are looking for three people in connection to a robbery that occurred near Cunningham Park earlier this month.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, in front of a home at 81-17 190th St., three individuals approached an 87-year-old man in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee that had a covered rear license plate, police said.

They engaged the victim in a conversation to draw him closer to the vehicle and claimed to be travelers from Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

Video surveillance footage shows one of the individuals removing a necklace from the elderly victim and replacing it with a fake gold necklace without ever stepping out of the vehicle, police said. Once the exchange was completed, the suspects drove off.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at nypdcrimestoppers.com, or on Twitter @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
