Councilman Robert Holden is inviting residents in his district to “JuneFest,” a series of events every Thursday in June that will include concerts, movies and more for the entire family at Juniper Valley Park.
On Thursday, June 1, from 7 to 9 p.m., residents can relive classic disco hits with the King of Disco. The following week, on June 8, from 7 to 9 p.m., residents can take a trip down memory lane and listen to classic ’80s hits performed by Decadia: 80s and Beyond.
On Thursday, June 15, from 7 to 9 p.m., The Soul Cruisers will perform From Soul Town to Mo Town, and on Thursday, June 22, from 7 to 9 p.m., there will be a Disney singalong tribute with The Little Merman. Closing out the concert programming on June 29, from 7 to 9 p.m., will be Satisfaction: A Rolling Stones Tribute.
Holden’s office will also host several Movies Under the Stars events throughout the month.
On Friday, June 2, from 7 to 9 p.m., residents can catch a showing of “Flushed Away” at Frank Principe Park in Maspeth. One week later, on June 9, from 7 to 9 p.m., there will be a showing of the classic Disney film “Lady and the Tramp” at Elmhurst Park in Elmhurst.
On Friday, June 16, from 7 to 9 p.m., there will be a showing of the silent film “Speedy,” and on Friday, June 23, from 7 to 9 p.m., there will be a showing of “Marmaduke.”
Other events that will be held throughout the month include the Italian Heritage Festival in Juniper Valley Park, which will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on June 4.
On Saturday, June 24, residents can attend the Summer Kick-Off Water Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Frank Principe Park.
Holden said that he is happy to hold the series of events for his constituents, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“They deserve it,” Holden said of his constituents. “We need some more outdoor, many more outdoor events to catch up, especially in the two years we had in the pandemic where everything was shut down.”
