Police from the 105th Precinct are looking for two men who broke into, or tried to break into, three homes on the same block in Brookville beginning late last month.

The first incident occurred on the morning of Monday, July 24. Authorities say one of the suspects attempted to enter a residential home in the vicinity of 222nd Street and 143rd Avenue, just a block north of the Belt Parkway, by prying open the rear door causing damage. He was thwarted and unable to gain entrance and fled the location on foot and empty handed, police said.

The crook came back to the same block on the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 1. This time, he brought along an accomplice, according to authorities. Together, they entered a home through the basement door. Once inside they removed personal items and approximately $300 in cash, before running off in an unknown direction.

A day later, one of the burglars came back to the same block and intentionally started a fire at another home that was occupied at the time. The perpetrator threw a flaming plastic container of “ignitable liquid” into a broken window, police said, adding that there were no injuries and it is unknown if there was property damage.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the two men on Aug. 2 that shows them entering the second home.

Police say both suspects are approximately 18 to 20 years of age. One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a black face covering, blue pants and white sneakers. He was carrying a black backpack.

The second suspect was wearing a black hooded jacket, black face covering, dark pants and dark sneakers.
