An experimental cultural and community center in the heart of Ridgewood plans to host a series of fundraising festivals to celebrate its 10-year anniversary this winter.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, Woodbine will host its fourth annual Holiday Market at Gottscheer Hall, located at 657 Fairview Ave. in Ridgewood. The center will have over 30 different vendors selling a wide array of goods. Each vendor will also contribute prizes for a fundraising raffle during the market.

Woodbine also announced a call for submissions for it’s first Art Auction, in partnership with the nonprofit cultural organization Peat and Repeat. The deadline for all sorts of submissions is Dec. 21.

Woodbine, located at 585 Woodward Ave. in Ridgewood, is a volunteer-operated group of like-minded folk who seek to aid others in building, “autonomy,” according to its website. In the fall of 2020, the organization moved into a 5,000 square-foot storefront in Ridgewood, amidst COVID relief work, which included operating a food pantry every Monday and Wednesday morning.

In addition to its ongoing food pantry efforts, Woodbine also hosts weekly Sunday dinners, a Wednesday screening series, fitness, yoga and meditation workshops and poetry readings and lectures.

In addition to the upcoming holiday market, Woodbine plans on hosting other events found on its Instagram page. A New Year’s Eve party for Woodbine’s 10th anniversary will also take place on Sunday, Dec. 31.

Among the many vendors present include some Ridgewood and Bushwick artists.
