Police from the 104th Precinct in Ridgewood discovered three men dead in the basement of an apartment building near Seneca Avenue on Thursday morning.

Officers responded to a call of a man found unconscious inside of 17-24 Putnam Ave. just before 7 a.m. Upon their arrival, police were met by the caller who stated that one of the three dead men was his brother. Officers raced down to the cellar where they found the 39-year-old man and two other unidentified men who were also unconscious and unresponsive.

EMS responded to the location and pronounced all three adult men dead at the scene, police said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, but investigators believe the three men died from drug overdoses, according to a law enforcement source familiar with the case. The identities of the deceased are pending proper family notification and the investigation remains ongoing, according to the NYPD.
