The New York Mets held its second of five Kids Club Days at Citi Field Sunday before the team’s final game prior to the all-star break, with starting pitcher Sean Manaea and infielder José Iglesias making surprise appearances.
Presented by Cohen Children’s Northwell Health, the event granted Kids Club members and their families early entry to the ballpark, a pre-game party with food, activities, including table hockey and giant Connect 4, and special appearances by Manaea and Iglesias.
Joined by Mr. and Mrs. Met, both players talked with the kids and signed autographs. Additionally, Manaea led them through a series of stretches. Iglesias, whose musical alter ego Candelita’s song “OMG” has become a rallying tune for the team throughout their recent hot stretch, performed his hit song live for the kids.
This performance came shortly before it was announced that he would perform live again on Monday in Arlington, Texas, prior to the MLB Home Run Derby.
The Mr. and Mrs. Met’s Kids Club Day presented by Cohen Children’s Northwell Health is open to young Mets fans up to 12 years of age. Kids Club membership includes two tickets to one of the Kids Club Days, a welcome kit, opportunities to collect monthly items, bonus prizes for check-ins throughout the month, a complimentary scoreboard message, four tickets to select games from the team’s minor league affiliate, the Brooklyn Cyclones, a fast pass for the Mr. and Mrs. Met Dash and much more.
Through Mr. and Mrs. Met’s Kids Club Day, presented by Cohen Children’s Northwell Health, the team has been engaging kids throughout the tri-state area to reach the next generation of lifelong Mets fans by providing them with special and unique experiences such as this event.
