Celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend with a little rhythm and romance.

The Bayside Historical Society (BHS) will kick off its 2025 Passport Concert Series with a festive Latin Jazz Brunch on Sunday, Feb. 16, from noon to 3 p.m. at The Castle Ballroom, 208 Fort Totten Ave.

This special event, a few days after Valentine’s Day, will feature live music by Tres Gatos, a dynamic New York City-based jazz trio known for blending Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms.

Tres Gatos, comprised of Puerto Rican bassist Ariel Robles, Cuban percussionist and vocalist Ernest Alvarez, and Japanese pianist Ittetsu Nasuda, brings a contemporary flair to their performance, seamlessly fusing the vibrant sounds of son montuno, mambo, cha-cha-cha, and other Latin music styles.

The event is part of BHS’s Passport Concert Series, showcasing global influences on American music, and will feature a delicious buffet-style brunch.

The event will take place in The Castle, a historic landmark built in 1880 and designated as a New York City landmark in 1974. The Bayside Historical Society has cared for the building since 1986 and regularly hosts events that celebrate its rich history and stunning architecture.

Funding for the event is provided by Council Member Vickie Paladino. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

Tickets for the Latin Jazz Brunch are available by advance reservation through the Bayside Historical Society’s website. The cost is $40 for members and $45 for non-members. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the beauty and history of The Castle, while enjoying an unforgettable afternoon of music and culture.
