The month of May brings a lively lineup of special events to the Queens County Farm Museum, located at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway in Floral Park. As New York City’s oldest continuously farmed site and the only working farm in the five boroughs, Queens Farm offers unique seasonal experiences that combine fun, education, and history.

28th Annual Apple Blossom Carnival

Celebrate the return of spring at the 28th Annual Apple Blossom Carnival, set against the scenic backdrop of the farm’s fields and gardens. The family-friendly event includes thrilling carnival rides, classic games, and mouth-watering fair food. Whether you’re riding the Ferris wheel or enjoying cotton candy with the kids, this is a quintessential Queens weekend activity.

Bonsai and Barrier Brewing

Spend an evening in the farm’s greenhouse shaping your own jade bonsai tree while sampling beers from Barrier Brewing Co., a Long Island brewery known for its small-batch, specialty craft beers. The event includes bonsai instruction, a tree to take home, pruning tools, decorative materials, and light refreshments. This is a relaxing and creative Friday night out for couples, friends, or plant lovers.

Sheep Shearing Festival

Join the city’s only sheep shearing festival, where families can watch live sheep shearing demonstrations and explore wool-spinning and fiber arts. Visitors can also purchase an activity passport to enjoy five hands-on crafts like clay pinch pots, colonial pearl earrings, and sheep puppets. Expect hayrides, live music, local food vendors, and educational displays throughout the day.

Queens County Farm has hosted this beloved event for years as a celebration of heritage farming and fiber traditions. It’s one of the farm’s biggest events, drawing thousands each spring.

Alice in Wonderland: A Whimsical Victorian Tea Party

Saturday, May 31 | 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Tickets: $35–$55

Step into the magical world of Wonderland for a charming Victorian tea party on the farm. Guests of all ages are invited to meet Alice and her storybook friends, enjoy trivia and scavenger hunts, and participate in a caricature drawing contest. The tea includes a menu of tea sandwiches, fruit, pastries, lemonade, and a variety of teas, all served in a beautifully decorated outdoor setting.

Costumes are encouraged—and early registration is recommended, as this interactive event tends to sell out.
