Restaurant Owner Is Community Minded

John Fellin, 50, owner of Bruno’s on the Boulevard and 2002’s Queens Restaurateur and Caterer of the year, strives to provide top-of-the-line catering at affordable prices to the Jackson Heights community.
In an impressive trajectory that begins humbly, Fellin began his career in the restaurant business as a waiter and dishwasher in high school. After graduating from St. John’s University, Fellin began working at Bruno’s, working himself through the ranks of management until finally becoming sole owner in 1997. He is also the owner of Caterit, an off premise catering company, and co-owner of Encore Caterers at Roosevelt Ballroom.
Along with operating his various businesses Fellin is also an enthusiastic advocate and promoter of the restaurant industry. Since 2004 he has been Chairman of New York Restaurant Association Education Foundation and was the former Chairman of the New York State Restaurant Association (NYSRA), often traveling to Washington and Albany lobbying on behalf of the restaurant industry.
And for the past twenty years he has been counseling the next generation on everything from drugs and relationship issues to career and vocational advice.
Capable of hosting fifty to three hundred and fifty people, opulent, grand ballrooms set the stage for feasts — featuring international cuisine that offers something for everyone.
At Bruno’s, Fellin has held the honor of catering events attended by prestigious guests such as Hillary Rodham Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, and Governor Pataki. He also catered the victory celebration for Queens Borough President Helen Marshall.
