Ciro Abril is dedicated to helping others attain their goals.
As Regional Sales Coordinator for the American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus (AFLAC), Abril, 42, a Jackson Heights native of Colombian heritage, utilizes his extensive insurance experience and fluency in Spanish to recruit and train salespeople.
“I oversee the New York City office — and 70 people,” said Abril. “I recruit diversity and address the diversity of the market.”
“From a business standpoint, I like that I can help a lot of people attain their goals.”
Working with small, medium, and large businesses, Abril and his staff inform employers and their employees of AFLAC’s “affordable, convenient benefits.”
Abril explained that even the best health insurance plans can leave you vulnerable to escalating costs and lost income. That’s why more than 12,900 employers across New York have turned to the Georgia-based AFLAC to offer their employees’ insurance protection. Without AFLAC New York, no insurance is complete, according to Abril.
Currently, AFLAC New York has more than 3,000 licensed agents.
In addition, with AFLAC in business for 50 years, but only in New York in the last 15, Abril foresees an ever-burgeoning market.
“We still have a 90 percent market penetration to unveil,” he said.
“The New York market will grow.”
“I really could see New York being [in] the top 10 [of the 600] managers in the country.”
Moreover, Abril said he will assist in this growth by “addressing the diversity we have in New York and by understanding the marketplace we’re in.”
AFLAC New York has a long and outstanding history of providing business opportunities for minority and women-owned companies.
Their mission is to continue to develop processes and procedures that provide efficient and accountable supplier access to potential business opportunities.
Developing mutually beneficial business relationships with minority and women-owned companies as primary suppliers is their fundamental objective. They also encourage primary suppliers to actively provide second-tier opportunities that support their supplier diversity initiative.
The company is primed to provide opportunities for business development for an inclusive business community environment. They strive to be a major force supporting the economic success of the evolving diverse supplier landscape.
Embodying this, as well as AFLAC’s values of treating individuals with care, respect, dignity, and fairness and offering opportunities for growth and advancement, Abril’s success in the insurance industry has led him to become a member of the Queens Chamber of Commerce as well as the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
For individuals, Abril said, AFLAC insurance policies help customers with those expenses not covered by major medical plan.
AFLAC New York brings clients benefits their way. Their policies provide direct-to-the-policyholder cash benefits when they’re needed most – in the event of an illness or an accident.
