Bayside man killed in karaoke bar melee

A young Bayside man was killed after hours at a local karaoke bar when he reportedly attempted to mediate a fight.
Junghwa Lee, 25, a City College student, died of massive trauma to the head in the early-morning hours of Sunday, October 3 after he was attacked by a group of men with pipes and baseball bats at Pastel karaoke bar on 158th Street and Northern Boulevard in Flushing. He was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m. at Flushing Medical Center.
A 21-year-old friend of Lee's, Min Ki Shim, was also battered and listed in stable condition at Flushing Medical Center with a cut to the head. Cops had yet to make any arrests although the 109th Precinct indicated they have an idea who was behind the heinous beating.
Lee and Shim went outside to break up the fight, police said, but the fracas soon escalated, with Lee and Shim being struck with baseball bats and pipes to the head by their assailants. Lee staggered back into the karaoke lounge, falling near the entrance.
