Fashion show in Forest Hills

Recently the Jade Moroccan Restaurant in Forest Hills served as the venue for several inspired designers, artists and fashion photographers to showcase subversive fashion, both provocatively alluring and surrealistic in style and approach.
The ambience of the Jade Moroccan Restaurant was elegant yet ornate with the feel of a high-end setting with an affordable price.
The restaurant provided an ideal space to reassert a Queens-based fashion scene in the form of Surrotic Sirens. The vision of Surrotica fashion is to combine the eroticism and style of the industry with an imaginative redefinition of beauty and form.
The surrealistic vision pioneered by Surrotica creator Robert Bernard seeks to reinvent the popular definition of contemporary style by placing its models in an atmosphere conducive to popular imagination.
Bernard, an experienced fashion photographer himself with an in-depth understanding of the world of fashion, now seeks to revolutionize the way in which beauty is understood.
“In a very real sense, I’ve been motivated my entire life with Surrotica’s concepts beginning from my childhood,” Bernard said. “Having been reared in a European background, my parents were deeply steeped in the arts, music, theatre, dance, and photography - virtually all art forms.”
The show featured the corsets of Corina Vrejoiu capturing the candid decadency and simple elegancy of his unorthodox approach.
The models presented corsets in breathtaking colors marked by elegance of pattern and simplicity of design.
The surrealistic delight of the evening was the body-painted models courtesy of Vann Godfrey, and his “Transformation Body Painting,” turning male and female models into brightly detailed canvases.
However, Surrotica is not the work of Robert Bernard alone. Esfira Shakhmurova aided in the early conceptions, planning and logistics behind the show; Margaret Mosen brought her in-depth experience at event planning and Tony D’Amico handled the business side of the production.
The team has already begun planning more shows for the immediate future with venues in Queens, Manhattan, Long Island as well as shows in different states.
