Business Development Officer for
Greater New York Development Company
As a Business Development Officer for Greater New York Development Company (GNYDC), Doris Mellina has made it her duty to help smaller businesses advance through the company’s loan programs.
Mellina began the job in January 2006 and has been focusing on getting the word out to smaller businesses about the company’s services.
“We are here to support the little guy,” Mellina said. She is also in charge of public relations, submitting press releases, coordinating trade shows and the monthly E-Newsletter, which circulates to a widespread list of bankers, attorneys, accountants, brokers, legislators and community leaders.
Before her current job, she has worked as an assistant to the sales manager of Wyndham Homes from 2004 to 2006, a personal assistant to Pat Thomas of Thomas Coaching Company from 2003 to 2004 and an interior design project manager in 2000.
She is also highly involved in community service. She is the incoming president of the LaGuardia Kiwanis Club, an organization she has been a part of for 18 years, and she sits on the Board of Directors for the Kiwanis Queens West Division. The club works to make a difference in children’s lives through different programs.
As president, she will be in charge of big events, weekly meetings, setting up committees, programs and goals, attending conventions and taking leadership courses.
“As far as my company, I am very fortunate to work fill time for an organization that gives me support in participating in Kiwanis,” said Mellina. “GNYDC has allowed me to go on weekly meetings and go off on international conventions.”
