The Queens Council on the Arts (QCA) is offering a course to teach grant writing skills to ambitious artists. At the upcoming Grant Writing Boot Camp, on Tuesday, April 15, members of a diverse panel will speak to participants. Artists will be given the opportunity to ask specific questions about the grant-writing process as panelists review several pre-selected case studies submitted by attendees.
The evening is a part of the Queens Council on the Arts’ “Art Builds Community” initiative, which is a series of interactive workshops and networking opportunities designed to promote artistic growth in Queens and strengthen the borough’s cultural community.
The event will run from 6 until 8:30 p.m. in LaGuardia Community College’s Room E-500. LaGuardia Community College is located at 31-10 Thomson Avenue in Long Island City.
To submit a grant proposal for critique at the Grant Writing Boot Camp, mail a copy to Independence Arts Builds Community Submissions. Queens Council on the Arts, One Forest Park at Oak Ridge, Woodhaven, NY 11421-1166.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, April 14. Submissions should be based on actual, available grants. Only a limited number of submissions will be discussed at the workshop, and a submission is not required for registration.
Those interested in attending the workshop must pre-register by emailing their name, address, telephone number, and artistic discipline to chenderson@queenscouncilarts.org. Attendance is free, but space is limited.
