Since opening his private practice in Jamaica in September of 2007, Samuel D. Flatt has been successfully navigating his clients through the Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability systems. Flatt is also relied upon by numerous other firms in the field for appearances on behalf of their clients in Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability and Negligence cases. Flatt earned his undergraduate degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University in 1995, and went on to earn his law degree from Cornell Law, where he graduated in 1998. His professional background has provided him with deep experience in workers’ relations. He spent a period of time working on medical malpractice cases, followed by working at a plaintiff negligence practice. Prior to opening his current practice, Flatt worked for six-and-a-half years at Grey & Grey, L.L.P., a firm that specializes in injury and disability law. Among other responsibilities, he handled the New York State and Local Employees’ Retirement System (NYSLERS) and the New York City Employees’ Retirement System (NYCERS), both of which adjudicate whether a worker is entitled to disability retirement benefits.
Flatt, whose mother remains active in the New York State United Teachers union and whose grandfather was a union plumber, says that his family background made his career path a natural choice.
