Best and brightest contest winners

Your votes have been tallied and it’s time to announce the winners of our best and brightest contest.
The Queens Courier and the New York Mets have teamed up to honor some of the borough’s brightest students and we asked our readers to vote for their favorite valedictorians and salutatorians on qns.com to decide who will have a chance to go on the field before the game.
Christopher Tromp, the valedictorian of Holy Cross High School, received the most votes with 1,335. He was followed by Kristi Vuksevic, the William Cullen Bryant High School salutatorian, with a total of 1,187. Alisha Martinez, the salutatorian at Renaissance Charter School, came in third with 1,057 votes. Fourth place went to Lauren Buchner, the salutatorian of Benjamin N. Cardozo High School who received 983 votes.
The Mets have provided tickets to the game on Thursday, August 21 against the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 p.m. and will have a ceremony on the field before the game to honor these four students.
These four winning students will also each be given a plaque of recognition from The Queens Courier, and eight tickets each for the game.
The winning students should call The Queens Courier at 1-718-224-5863, Ext 231 to receive their tickets.
