Do you know of an exemplary small business, individual or community organization in your neighborhood? If one or two come to mind, then you may want to consider nominating them for the Ninth Annual Neighborhood Achievement Awards.
Established by the New York Department of Small Business Services (SBS), the Awards started in 2002 and has eight categories.
“The Neighborhood Achievement Awards acknowledge exceptional individuals, businesses and groups for making a strong commitment to building their communities and creating jobs for New Yorkers,” said SBS Commissioner Robert Walsh. “I encourage everyone to help recognize those who are making a difference in their neighborhoods.”
All New Yorkers, nonprofit organizations, businesses, educational institutions, business improvement districts, local development corporations, merchants associations, and other neighborhood associations may choose to nominate and/or apply for awards. The application deadline is March 1.
The Development Award honors a business or organization which has either completed a new real-estate development or a re-adaptive use project that created tangible neighborhood benefits
