Star networking event was ‘Plum’ of Bayside

The stars aligned as The Queens Courier joined TD Bank in sponsoring the Star Networking event at Plum Restaurant & Lounge in Bayside on Thursday, April 22.

Queens business owners came together to network and to get to know one another in the relaxed setting at one of Bayside’s most inviting restaurants – and raise $800 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Peter Meyer, TD Bank’s President, NYC Market, announced the grand opening of their new “Green” Queens Village branch, at 214-32 Jamaica Avenue.

Plum owner Kostas Kantlis said that he was proud to host such an event and that business people around Queens would be wise to include themselves in these occasions because it affords them the opportunity to positively affect their businesses.

“This is meeting of the minds for all of the people who work within the community. It is their chance to come together and share some thoughts and some wisdom concerning Queens business,” said Kantlis. “They can also come here to drum up some business with a little mingling in a social environment.”

Those in attendance were more than happy to mingle with their fellow Queens businesspeople and to extend their company’s reach. Attendees believe that in order to truly succeed in the business world, one needs to remain visible; and these networking events provide the ideal setting to do just that.

“The Star Networking Group brings together great business leaders,” said Joshua Schneps, Queens Courier Co-Publisher. “We were grateful to have such a fantastic turnout and raise $800 for the JDRF. There is no better way to meet the ‘shakers and makers’ of the business community.”

Joseph Scalice, general manager of Water’s Edge in Long Island City, said that even a restaurant with an established name can benefit from the extra recognition gained when attending a networking event.

“When we see people in the business community, these are the people we want to know and we want to meet,” said Scalice. “This really is a great opportunity to mingle with like-minded people from the business community.”
