Crystal celebrates 20 years in business

Crystal Window & Door Systems celebrated 20 years on May 15.

The award-winning fenestration company was started two decades ago by Taiwanese-American immigrant Thomas Chen, with a small operation fabricating aluminum windows for the local community. Since then, Crystal has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers in the nation of both aluminum and vinyl windows, as well as high-end fenestration systems.

Crystal today boasts production facilities in New York, Chicago and Missouri, a national sales and distribution network, and international activities. Crystal has also expanded beyond windows to establish operations in building products such as fencing, solar panels and aluminum extrusion and finishing.

The company has been celebrating the 20th anniversary milestone in numerous ways with customers and employees over the past 12 months. These have included factory barbeques last summer, a major customer recognition themed dinner event, company employee service awards, special corporate promotional apparel, and revisions to the corporate tag line and logo. The year of celebration culminated in a grand 800-guest gala banquet attended by employees and their families.

Crystal’s 20-year milestone has been formally recognized with special citations from the Borough President, the New York State Senate, the mayor and the U.S. House of Representatives. Borough President Helen Marshall, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Congressmember Gary Ackerman further proclaimed May 15 as “Crystal Windows Day.”

“The 20th anniversary milestone is indeed a happy occasion for Crystal Windows,” said Chen, president. “However, I would be remiss if I didn’t note the two most important factors that have driven our past two decades of success and will drive our future success in the decades to come. All of this would not have been possible without the support of all our truly wonderful customers and the efforts of our dedicated employees. They are the best in the world and I thank each and every one of them.”
