The Bayside travel team’s summer in the sun continues as they managed to claim two wins from two very tough opponents.
Although they had their hands full, Bayside defeated the Whitestone Angels, 6-4, in Whitestone on Tuesday, July 27. Starting pitcher Savvas Papadopoulos started on the mound for Bayside and struck out seven in over four innings of work.
Aristo Pagiatakis and Nicholas Gutleber brought the lumber for Bayside, as each smashed RBI doubles in the win. Nicholas Perez pulled double duty as he pitched two innings for the save and plated two runs with a triple in the third.
Bayside then took their winning ways to Fort Totten Field for a matchup against the DAC Marksmen on Thursday, July 29. It was a tough game, but Bayside pulled out the extra inning win, 6-5.
DAC came out swinging and scored three quick runs in the first, but Bayside came right back with four in the second. They couldn’t hold the lead however, as DAC came back to tie it up and force extra innings.
John Callahan started for Bayside, going four innings and striking out five, before yielding to Teddy Rouzinos and closer Nicholas Perez.
Regan Goger made several dazzling plays at second base and also contributed an RBI single. Perez had another big blow with a two-run homer in second.
