Forge an unforgettable affair at The Foundry

From elegant weddings to surprise birthday parties, The Foundry has been helping New Yorkers create unforgettable events with a special flair since 2001.
“We accommodate people that want to make events with their own personality in them,” said managing director Allison Du Val. “We’re very easy-going and adaptable to many different uses.”
Located at 42-38 Ninth Street in Long Island City, The Foundry is composed of three separate areas – the main interior, courtyard, and rooftop. Du Val said that they are looking to open a new space – “the greenhouse” – next summer. She described The Foundry as a “rock canvas” and “raw location” that is very flexible.
“It’s not like you’re tied in to something. It’s your own décor, food, and choices,” she said. “We give you the ability to make events personal to you.”
The Foundry is available to rent for a plethora of events – film and video shoots, weddings, receptions, special events and parties, and photography. Clients include stores such as Bloomingdale’s and Victoria’s Secret and hit television shows like “Gossip Girl” and “Sex and the City.”
Described by Du Val as versatile and adaptable for any rental need, the family-owned business is available for private parties of all sizes. Du Val said the space is special because only one party happens at a time, maintaining the privacy of the event. The business also recommends everything from caterers and lighting to music and entertainment.
“We give a lot of input to our clients and we’re very experienced and offer separate event planning services,” she said. “We’ve got recommendations galore!”
When asked why customers should choose The Foundry over other businesses, Du Val said the overall experience is something truly memorable and one people can’t get anywhere else.
“We’re so accessible and so close to everything yet so private. That’s hard to come by in New York City,” Du Val said. “It’s a beautiful and unique-looking space with a mix of very industrial, hard architecture mixed with elegant, soft beauty as well.”
Du Val further described the staff as “phenomenal” and said that customers say they are easy and fun to work with yet professional.
“We really enjoy what we do,” she said. “This is a big passion for us and we take great pride in it.”
