Teenage Bandits Cuffed

Knife-Carrying Crook Pinched For Robbery

A Brooklyn teenager was picked up by police last Friday, Feb. 17, for allegedly participating in the knifepoint robbery of a 15-year-old male at a Ridgewood intersection days earlier, law enforcement sources said.

The suspect was identified by police as 16-year-old Maranda Pierre Jr. of East New York Avenue in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn.

Two juvenile suspects who allegedly took part in the caper were also arrested by police last week; their identities are being withheld due to their age.

According to information pro- vided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the holdup occurred at around 4:30 p.m. last Monday afternoon, Feb. 13, at the corner of Cypress Avenue and Summerfield Street.

Reportedly, the 15-year-old male victim was approached at the corner by Pierre and the two juvenile perpetrators. Police said Pierre allegedly displayed a knife and held it to the victim’s chest while one of the juveniles demanded the other teenager’s property.

Law enforcement sources noted Pierre allegedly removed the victim’s wallet and cell phone, then fled with the other juveniles involved in the incident.

The incident was later reported to the 104th Precinct; the 15-yearold male victim was not injured.

Following a thorough investiga- tion, Pierre was tracked down and taken into custody last Friday on charges of first- and second-degree robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.

According to court records, the suspect was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court last Saturday, Feb. 18, before Judge Kathryn Freed, who ordered him held on $5,000 bail. Pierre is scheduled to return to court on Mar. 2.
