The Long Island Rail Road announced Friday it will restore half-hourly midday service on the Port Washington line next month.
The LIRR said restoration of the half-hourly trains would start May 14.
The cuts, which were carried out in 2010 at a time of reduced service throughout the transit system, resulted in the loss of an estimated 180,000 commuters.
The LIRR said it was hopeful the restoration of half-hourly service would bring back the lost commuters.
