Parts of Howard Beach and Lindenwood will be sprayed for mosquitoes starting Wednesday night and lasting through Thursday morning.
The city Department of Health is spraying to combat a rise in mosquitoes with West Nile Virus and an increase in mosquito activity in general. It will spray pesticides from trucks in ZIP codes 11414 and 11417 beginning Aug. 8 at 8:15 p.m. and lasting through Aug. 9 at 6 a.m.
If weather is poor, spraying will be delayed until Thursday.
The department said most people should not have any reactions to the spray, but some may experience skin or eye irritation or the exacerbation of existing respiratory conditions. People are advised to stay indoors during the spraying.
