The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will introduce its Fastrack, subway maintenance service to Queens for the first time Monday.
It will mean no late night and overnight subway service on the E, F, M, and R lines for four consecutive nights
There will be no service on the E between Roosevelt Avenue and World Trade Center and no service on the F between Roosevelt Avenue and 21st Street-Queensbridge from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. for four consecutive weeknights from Monday, March 18, to early 5 a.m. Friday, March 22. Straphangers may take the No.7 or the N or the free shuttle bus as alternatives. Also, riders coming from Manhattan who normally ride the E or the M to Court Square can instead take the No. 7.
The MTA said the R and M service will end early.
Fastrack made its debut in Manhattan in January 2012 with four consecutive weeknights of performing maintenance work in tunnels, stations and on tracks, suspending all service within the segment of a given line for a seven-hour period between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. It provides free access to the system, allowing an army of maintenance workers to perform dozens of jobs without the concern of having to stop work to let trains pass .
