Bust Glendale Man For Assault & Pursuit

Police officers collared a Glendale man last week who allegedly terrorized his wife and led officers on a vehicular pursuit that began at the 104th Precinct’s Ridgewood stationhouse, it was reported.

Law enforcement sources identified him as 34-year-old Daniel McMahon of Myrtle Avenue.

According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the trouble began at about 5 p.m. last Wednesday, Nov. 12, in Greenpoint, when McMahon allegedly approached his estranged spouse at her car parked on Box Street near Manhattan Avenue.

Authorities said McMahon was served earlier that day with a court order barring him from making any unlawful contact with his wife.

Shortly after they entered the vehicle, police said, McMahon and his wife became embroiled in a verbal dispute. The argument reportedly turned physical when the suspect allegedly punched and slapped her face numerous times.

Though the victim made an attempt to flee minutes later, law enforcement sources noted, McMahon allegedly managed to bring her back to the vehicle and drove to a Williamsburg location. Later, they reportedly traveled to McMahon’s home, where he allegedly assaulted her again.

Authorities said the victim managed to travel to the 104th Precinct at about 5 p.m. last Thursday, Nov. 13, to file a criminal complaint. In doing so, she and officers reportedly discovered McMahon waiting outside the Catalpa Avenue stationhouse in his vehicle.

As officers moved to stop him, police noted, McMahon began to drive away and subsequently led police on a pursuit into Glendale. During the episode, he reportedly sped through the neighborhood and, at times, traveled into oncoming traffic.

Moments later, law enforcement sources noted, McMahon’s vehicle collided head-on with another car, causing injury to the driver and vehicular damage. Despite the run-in, McMahon reportedly kept going until finally stopping his vehicle at the corner of 65th Place and 68th Avenue, near Mafera Park.

There, McMahon allegedly got out and began to run on foot, police stated. Officers eventually stopped him and took him into custody.

McMahon was charged with third-degree robbery, aggravated criminal contempt, unlawful imprisonment, fourthdegree grand larceny, third-degree assault, criminal contempt, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and several traffic violations.

According to court records, McMahon was ordered by Queens Criminal Court Judge Ernest Hart held on $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash during an arraignment hearing last Friday, Nov. 14. The suspect is due back in court on Nov. 28.
