Women’s rights activists are planning a massive solidarity march on Washington, D.C. to protest the election of Donald Trump as president.

The “Women’s March on Washington” will begin with a rally at the Lincoln Memorial Jan. 21, one day after the Inauguration, and organizers are calling on all defenders of human rights to stand with them to send a bold message to the new administration that women’s rights are human rights.

“The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us — women; immigrants of all statuses; those with diverse religious faiths, particularly Muslim; people who identify as LGBTQIA; native and indigenous people; black and brown people; people with disabilities; the economically impoverished and survivors of sexual assault,” organizers said on a national Facebook page. “We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear.”

The rally will begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed with a march to the White House.

Organizing committees are forming in all 50 states. Volunteers in New York can fill out a survey at https://bit.ly/mwmorganize and more information can be found at NYC-Downstatehttps://www.facebook.com/events/320865168287826.
