Iconic movie director Martin Scorsese is filming scenes for his upcoming mob drama “The Irishman” in Ridgewood on Wednesday, July 12.
The movie will be shot outside and inside of 2208 Himrod St. (across the street from Grover Cleveland High School) where there will be plate shots with a handheld photographer on the sidewalk and interior of the building.
Both sides of Himrod Street between Tonsor Street and Metropolitan Avenue will be restricted to public parking for a quarter of the block from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for filming.
“The Irishman” has a star-studded cast including Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Bobby Cannavale, Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel and more.
The film, which has an estimated $100 million budget according to Indiewire, will be a Netfilx production. It is expected to continue filming throughout the summer and could be on screen by 2019.
The movie is an adaption of the 2003 book “I Heard You Paint Houses” by Charles Brandt about Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran (played by De Niro), a mob hitman who allegedly killed Jimmy Hoffa (played by Pacino).
