Robber who shot a man to steal his chain on a South Ozone Park street still at large

Police are looking for a man who shot someone in the ankle so he could take his chain on a South Ozone Park street.

At 10:55 a.m. on the morning of Sept. 4, law enforcement sources said, an unknown man approached a 44-year-old man in the vicinity of 128th Street and Sutter Avenue and displayed a firearm. When the victim tried to run away, the suspect shot him in the left ankle.

Following the shooting, authorities noted, the suspect snatched the victim’s chains from around his neck and fled the scene southbound on 129th Street in a silver coupe.

The suspect is described as a dark skinned man in his 20s, standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black hooded sweater and dark colored jeans. The vehicle is described as a silver two door Nissan Altima possibly with Connecticut license plates.
