Suspect pretends to be a cop while trying to rob someone in Corona: cops

Cops are searching for a man who impersonated a police officer during an attempted robbery on the streets of Corona.

According to police, at 2 a.m. on Jan. 18, a 23-year-old man was walking down the street towards his car in the vicinity of 103rd Street and Corona Avenue when he was approached by an unknown man who was driving a tan-colored mini van.

The suspect stated that he was a police officer and searched the victim’s pockets. Following the search, the suspect fled the scene empty-handed.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, possibly between the ages of 20 and 30-years-old, standing 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 300 pounds. He was  last seen wearing all dark clothing.
