Police have arrested four more people connected to a February shooting in Jamaica Hills that left one man dead.
On April 30, police arrested 24-year-old Carolina Morel Cruz of Elizabeth, NJ; 19-year-old Jose Jimenez Chacon of New Brunswick, NJ; 18-year-old Yanki Cruz Mateo of Kingston, NY; and 24-year-old Saudi Levy Ramirez of Brooklyn on counts of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to police, they each played a role in the Feb. 2 execution of 20-year-old Oscar Antonio Blanco-Hernandez, an Elizabeth, NJ, resident, in front of a home on 160th Street near 85th Avenue. Sources familiar with the investigation indicated that the murder appears to be related to gang activity, but didn’t elaborate further.
At 6:40 p.m. on Feb. 2, cops from the 107th Precinct responded to a reported assault at the location and found Blanco-Hernandez with gunshot wounds to the head and groin. Paramedics transported Blanco-Hernandez to Queens Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Law enforcement sources said that Blanco-Hernandez was spotted on surveillance footage just before the assault walking in the vicinity of 160th Street and Parson Boulevard with one unknown individual walking to his right and another unknown individual walking behind him.
A few minutes later, the two unknown individuals, who were described by police as men wearing dark clothing, were seen quickly walking away from 160th Street heading toward Parsons Boulevard.
Following an ongoing investigation, police arrested 19-year-old Alexander “Yoni” Sierra, of Jamaica, on March 14. Sierra was extradited from Maryland and charged with murder.
