Cops are investigating the death of a 53-year-old man whose body was found chained and floating in the Flushing River on Tuesday morning.
Officers from the 110th Precinct responded to a 911 call made at 9:15 a.m. on Oct. 2 regarding a body seen floating in the water around the World’s Fair Marina, off the intersection of Northern Boulevard and the Grand Central Parkway.
Once police arrived to the scene, they spotted 53-year-old man Michael Panico of Jackson Heights floating in the water near the shoreline. According to law enforcement sources said, Panico was unresponsive, fully clothed and had chains around his feet.
Police removed him from the water, and EMS units pronounced him dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
