Police from the 100th Precinct are looking for the team of pickpockets who stole an elderly man’s debit card from his pocket as he was shopping in Rockaway Park Monday afternoon, July 25.

The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. as the 77-year-old victim was leaving the Stop & Shop supermarket located at 112-15 Beach Channel Dr., when the suspects — one and and one woman — approached.

Police say the man bumped into the senior and reached into his right pocket, removing his Chase debit card. The pickpockets then took off on foot in an unknown direction and later, they allegedly used the man’s debit card at a Chase branch nearby and withdrew approximately $1,500 from the victim’s account, according to the NYPD.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

The NYPD released a surveillance video on July 27 that showed the woman in front of the Stop & Shop. The couple is described as being in their mid-30s, police said.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782).
