The Flushing Business Improvement District (BID), on Friday, Jan. 20, announced the launch of Lucky7, a free online raffle to celebrate the Lunar New Year, promote local businesses, and bring shoppers from other regions to downtown Flushing.

“This event is to celebrate the culture in Downtown Flushing. The food culture, shopping culture, but most importantly to celebrate the Lunar New Year culture in Downtown Flushing,” said Dian Yu, executive director of the Flushing BID. “This is a unique opportunity for people not familiar with Downtown Flushing to truly experience the food and fun that’s only available in Flushing.”

From Jan. 20 through Feb. 3, people can support Flushing local merchants by entering the free Lucky7 online raffle on flushingbid.com to win a $15 to $25 gift certificate from local businesses. The winners will be selected randomly by computer. The winners will be announced on the BID’s website and social media posts on Friday, Feb. 10, and contacted by email.

According to the BID, small businesses are the backbone of the local economy and by offering free marketing and purchasing gift certificates from local businesses, the BID believes that this will display the diversity of what Downtown Flushing can offer.

The event aims to showcase unique shops and why people from different boroughs should visit the vibrant business district. Based on the feedback from local shop merchants, the Flushing BID is expecting to bring in an additional seven to 10 times revenue for the participating businesses from the $7,000 investment for this event. This fun event will boost the businesses’ bottom line and visibility.

The Lucky7 Raffle features 14 different businesses and over 300 prizes in total. The list of participating businesses include Crispy Burger, Ebisu, Grandma’s Dim Sum, Legend Chicken, Maxi’s Noodle, Mochiido, Partea NYC, Qbedding, Sheraton Hotel Restaurant, SoyBean Chan Flower Shop, Taipei Fine Wine & Liquor, White Bear, Wong Nutrition and Xing Fu Tang.
