A webinar panel on Wednesday, April 26, discussed how caring people and nonprofits can work with their community foundations to make life better in Queens and beyond. The panelists, consisting of nonprofit leaders and philanthropists, shared their personal stories to help participants walk away with a deeper understanding on how community organizations impact our neighborhoods.
The panel included New York Community Trust President Amy Freitag, who spoke on how the largest funder of New York City nonprofits has shaped life in Queens, and connects donors with high-impact nonprofits; President and CEO of the Queens Public Library Dennis Walcott on the role of charities and their partners in building community; and philanthropist and executive Paula Kirby, on her family’s tradition of giving as well as her role in their Long Island City-based business.
Webinar attendees were welcome to ask questions, and came away with a richer understanding of the roles that donors, philanthropy, and nonprofits have played in Queens.
