Cops searching for gunman in Jamaica shooting: NYPD

Police from the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica are looking for a gunman who opened fire Wednesday morning at the busy intersection of Sutphin Boulevard and Jamaica Avenue, leaving one man wounded.

The shooting went down just after 11 a.m. on Aug. 16 in front of the Bank of America branch in downtown Jamaica, causing pedestrians to duck for cover as traffic was brought to a standstill. A man was shot once in the left arm and was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where the victim was “not likely to die,” according to an NYPD spokeswoman.

Crime scene investigators collected evidence at the intersection including at least one shell casing found lying on Jamaica Avenue.

The gunman remains at large and the investigation is ongoing.
