NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and the nonprofit enCourage Kids Foundation partnered to give away more than 500 toys to the kids at the hospital on Dec. 7.
Mr. and Mrs. Met joined members of NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and the enCourage Foundation to give out the toys.
“Today is a special day,” Elmhurst Hospital CEO Helen Arteaga Landaverde said. “We get to celebrate the special occasion of giving and bringing an extra little bit of lightness to the world, which we need right now. It’s an amazing honor and privilege to have everyone here.”
Toys for this event were donated by the toy developers Little Kids Inc., Spin Master and ThinkFun.
“We at enCourage Kids are incredibly thrilled to be here today with you,” enCourage Kids President and CEO Jean Butler said. “Our mission is to help children in hospitals feel some comfort and joy. That’s really the purpose of our event today. We want to spread the holiday joy and cheer to the children here at Elmhurst. I think we can guarantee there is a toy here that will please every child, not matter how old.”
The toys will continue to be given out to inpatient children throughout the month of December.
