U.S. News and World Report has included NYC Health +Hospitals/Elmhurst among its latest annual list of the best hospitals in New York state. It was one of ten NYC Health + Hospitals locations named in the list.

This marks the first time that NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst appeared on this list. It ranked 26th in the New York Metro Area and 28th in New York state.

The main contributing factors to the hospital making the list were its high marks in treating patients for heart failure, diabetes, kidney failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), stroke, hip fracture and pneumonia.

When it came to producing the rankings, U.S. News and World Report assessed criteria like patient length of stay, readmission or death within 30 days of discharge, nurse staffing, patient satisfaction scores and data transparency. The list was released on Aug. 16.
