FDNY tackles Thursday morning house fire in South Richmond Hill

The FDNY received a call at 11:31 a.m. of a house fire at 95-26 110th St. in South Richmond Hill on Thursday.

Firefighters from Squad Company 270 and Ladder Company 143 arrived moments later and confirmed the blaze originated in the attic space of the two-story private dwelling.

Firefighters removed a propane tank from the upper floor. The FDNY dispatched 12 units, including 60 firefighters and EMS personnel, to the block between 95th Avenue and 101st Avenue. Crews used three hose lines to knock down the main body of the fire, which was brought under control at 12:01 p.m., a half hour after the call was received.

There were no injuries, and searches throughout the building proved negative.

Firefighters opened all interior and exterior walls to ensure the blaze was completely out. FDNY fire marshals will determine the cause of the fire.
