Police from the 104th Precinct in Ridgewood and Transit District 33 are looking for the perpetrator who attacked and robbed a 13-year-old boy in broad daylight on board an M train on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The youngster was riding in a southbound M subway car approaching the Seneca Avenue station just after noon when a stranger approached him and sucker-punched him in the head, police said on Tuesday. The boy’s assailant proceeded to forcibly remove his cell phone and headphones before running off the train inside the Seneca Avenue station. He was last seen on foot on Palmetto Street. The victim refused medical attention at the crime scene.

The NYPD released images of the suspect on Tuesday. He has a medium complexion and a thin mustache and wore a black hooded sweatshirt, a black head covering and dark-colored sweatpants.

Through Oct. 13, the 104th Precinct has reported 166 robberies so far in 2024, 15 fewer than the 181 reported at the same point last year, a decrease of 8.3%, according to the most recent CompStat report.

The precinct also reported 235 felony assaults so far this year, 15 more than the 220 reported at the same point in 2023, an increase of 6.8%, according to CompStat.

Transit crimes are down in the 104th Precinct, with 15 reported so far in 2024, three fewer than the 18 reported at the same point last year, a decline of 16.7%, according to CompStat.
