The Laurelton branch of the Queens Public Library (QPL) is set to reopen its doors on Tuesday, Oct. 8, after being closed for seven months for renovations.

The library, located at 134-26 225th St., will resume service at 1 p.m. on its reopening day.

The Laurelton library had been temporarily closed since March 11 to undergo essential upgrades, including the replacement of its roof and HVAC system. During the closure, the QPL provided a weekly bookmobile in front of the Laurelton branch to ensure residents continued to have access to library resources. The bookmobile, the size of a city bus, was stocked with books, magazines, and movies, offering a mobile library service.

In addition to its regular offerings, the bookmobile serves a dual purpose, functioning as a hub during natural disasters and emergencies. It can be equipped with first aid supplies, health brochures, FEMA applications, and Wi-Fi charging stations for those in need.

Following the reopening, the Laurelton Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays; from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The library remains closed on Sundays.
