The Queens Public Library announced that the Bay Terrace branch is scheduled to reopen for public service on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m., following approximately two years of renovation work.
The Bay Terrace Library, located at 18-36 Bell Blvd., had undergone a full interior renovation. This work included expanding the main entrance, updating the technology and furniture, adding a new teen room and a new multi-purpose community room with audiovisual equipment, and creating an ADA-accessible entrance at the side of the building.
Approximately $2.2 million in capital funding was provided for the library by State Senator John Liu and Assemblymember Edward Braunstein in October 2022. In addition to the interior renovations, this funding also covered exterior masonry being restored and the installation of an HVAC system. This funding helped cover a large portion of the cost of the library’s $5.7 million renovation and modernization project.
With a ribbon-cutting ceremony set to mark the library’s reopening, mobile library service will soon shut down at the location. The last day of mobile library service is set for Thursday, Dec. 5.
