Circus Vazquez will be returning to Citi Field for a series of shows from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15. Additionally, another new circus from the Vazquez family, Fl!p Circus, will be coming to Forest Park from Nov. 8-26.
Fl!p Circus provides an intimate big top experience through its eclectic mix of incredible international performers. The red and white striped big top tent is climate-controlled and has 800 seats, with all being no more than 50 feet away from the ring.
The performers each bring their own incredible talents to Fl!p Circus. Brazilian clown Bubi Guiner will be debuting his classic routines and antics in America for the first time. Hasan Ansari of India will amaze the audience with body-bending maneuvers on a wooden pole. Pavel Valla Bertini of the Czech Republic will show off his one, three and 15-wheeled unicycle skills. Ukraine’s Bingo Troupe will be showcasing their signature mix of dance and acrobatics. The Chilean Reyes Brothers will demonstrate their amazing fast-paced juggling skills. Fourth-generation performer Alexa Vazquez’s hula hoop display is sure to leave attendees mesmerized.
Music will accompany each performance at Fl!p Circus, courtesy of the live Fl!p Circus Band. Between their music and the astounding performers, this circus is sure to provide high-energy fun for people of all ages.
Alexa Vazquez noted one of the main factors that led to the establishment of Fl!p Circus was that the tent’s smaller size in comparison to that of Circus Vazquez made it easier to transport and fit at venues across the country.
“The tent is the smallest one right now in the United States,” Vazquez said. “It fits just about anywhere. It’s built up in a day and a half and it’s taken down in one night. It’s easier to pack and travel with and to go into any city that we want.”
She also noted that while Circus Vazquez may have a stronger appeal to those with Hispanic backgrounds, Fl!p Circus tries to emphasize cultures from all over the world. Additionally, Vazquez feels the atmosphere at Fl!p Circus is different from that of Circus Vazquez.
“At Fl!p, you have a more intimate show,” Vazquez said. “You’re closer to the stage and closer to the artists. You feel like you’re part of the performance. It’s very unique.”
Shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. on weekdays, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 p.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets start at $30 for children and $50 for adults.
