Permits have been filed for the construction of a 7-story residential building at 68-19 Woodhaven Blvd. in Rego Park.

The proposed development, located between 68th Road and 68th Avenue, would stand 75 feet tall and span 91,080 square feet. There would be a total of 120 residences. Based on the units having an average unit scope of 759 square feet, they will most likely be rentals.

In addition to the 120 residential units, the building would also feature a cellar a rear yard measuring in at 33 feet in length and 36 enclosed parking spaces for residents.

Residents of this building would have convenient access to public transportation, as the 67th Avenue subway station is nearby. That station services the E, F, M and R trains.

The owner of the applications is listed as Juan Barahona of Restoring Communities HDFC. The listed architect of record is Mark Gordon of Shakespeare Gordon Studio.

The developers received the rezoning approval from Community Board 6 back in 2021. Board members and residents raised concerns about potential impacts on local traffic and school overcrowding; however, the board ultimately supported the project.

Demolition permits will not be needed for this proposed project, as the site is currently a vacant lot. However, an estimated date for the building’s completion has not yet been provided.
