Woodbine Community Center in Ridgewood is hosting its fifth annual Holiday Market on Sunday, Dec. 1, and due to overwhelming demand, the market will be held at two locations.
The market will run from noon to 6 p.m. at the Banatul Folklore & Soccer Club, 1880 Menahan St., and Woodbine itself, 585 Woodward Ave. The venues are just a one-minute walk apart.
It will feature a wide variety of goods, including antiques, art, clothing, ceramics, cheese, jewelry, plants, books, textiles, and more. Local vendors will offer a unique assortment of items such as paintings, sculptures, stationery, zines, and prints.
Woodbine, a volunteer-run experimental hub in Ridgewood, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. As part of the celebration, the center is hosting a fundraiser to support its continued operation for another decade. Special merchandise, including newly printed items, will be available for purchase.
The community-driven center recently launched a fundraising subscriber drive and is more than 75% of the way to meeting its goal. Woodbine recently secured a 10-year lease extension for its Ridgewood location and is working to ensure the financial sustainability of its volunteer-run space. Despite the progress, the center is currently running at a $1,100 monthly deficit and is asking for support from the community. Donations of $5, $10, or $25 a month will help Woodbine continue its important work in New York City.
