The Triveni Times, a prominent media network serving South Asian and immigrant communities, honored seven distinguished community media journalists at an awards ceremony last month.
The event, held at the Queens Public Library in Corona on Dec. 18 recognized their dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering cultural dialogue through journalism.
Neil Trivedi, deputy chief of staff for Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar, presented the awards on her behalf, praising the honorees for their impactful work. “These journalists have exemplified an unwavering commitment to bridging communities and telling stories that matter,” Trivedi said.

These journalists embody diverse cultural perspectives, highlighting the rich multicultural heritage of Queens and its immigrant communities.
The ceremony drew city officials, district leaders, and representatives from online and ethnic media networks. The honorees were lauded for their contributions to local journalism and its role in fostering civic engagement and cultural understanding.
In addition to the awards, certificates of appreciation were given to individuals who have supported the growth of Triveni Times. Trivedi acknowledged their efforts in fostering community engagement through media.
The evening was hosted by Nabaraj KC, co-founder of Triveni Times and a respected community leader. Opening remarks were delivered by Kham Bhatta, while Purna B. Lama’s welcoming speech emphasized the role of journalism in bridging cultural divides and empowering immigrant voices.
Cultural performances, including Bangladeshi, Filipino, Chinese, Indian, and Nepali folk dances, added vibrancy to the event and celebrated the diversity of the communities represented.
Triveni Times is a leading Nepali community media outlet in the United States, recognized for its commitment to serving the Nepali diaspora and broader immigrant communities. The publication provides news and content on culture, politics, social issues, and community achievements while promoting heritage and fostering connections within the global Nepali community.
The organization has earned accolades from the NYC Mayor’s Office, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng, and other officials. Notably, Jan. 18 was declared “Triveni Times Day” in recognition of its service, and the publication has received citations from Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and Assemblymembers Steven Raga and Jenifer Rajkumar.
