Navigating legal challenges can be daunting, especially for older adults facing housing issues, financial concerns, or elder abuse.

To help address these challenges, State Sen. James Sanders Jr., in collaboration with JASA’s Legal Services for Elder Justice (LSEJ), is offering free legal assistance to seniors in Queens.

Sanders represents neighborhoods across Southeast Queens and the Rockaways, including Far Rockaway, Rockaway Beach, Howard Beach, Jamaica, South Ozone Park, Springfield Gardens, and Rosedale.

The legal aid sessions will take place on the first Tuesday of every month, providing a vital resource for seniors seeking guidance on civil legal matters. The upcoming February session is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Sanders’ district office, located at 142-01 Rockaway Blvd. in Jamaica. Seniors aged 60 and older are eligible to participate but must bring ID and proof of address to receive assistance.

Legal services include eviction prevention, foreclosure assistance, estate planning, elder abuse protection, and housing rights advocacy. Additional support is available for seniors seeking guidance on Social Security, Medicare eligibility, and predatory lending prevention.

Interested individuals can schedule an appointment by scanning the QR code on the event flyer below or calling 718-523-3069.
