Bishop Robert Brennan, the Bishop of Brooklyn, which includes Queens, led a special Mass in recognition of the Lunar New Year on Sunday, Feb. 2, at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, located at 138-65 Barclay Ave. in Flushing.

The church’s Lunar New Year celebration for the Year of the Snake also featured a party in the parish hall with cultural music, dancing, food and raffles.

“Trusting in the Lord, that idea of trusting in the Lord, is important for us as we begin this new year,” Bishop Brennan said in his homily. “This new year connects us with what God has done for us in the past, but it has us looking forward filled with hope, paying attention to where God is walking with us, and listening to one another and encouraging one another.

This celebration meant a lot to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church Pastor Father Vincentius Do. Father Do also serves for the Diocese of Brooklyn as the Chinese Apostolate.
